Do You Hear What I Hear?
Cheers! Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Tis the season to be merry! Yep, we hear it all. We have reached the most wonderful time of the year- thank you Andy Williams. I absolutely love this part of the year. I love the lights, the tree, the music, watching old Christmas specials, the aroma of Christmas permeating all through out the stores and home. I could have Christmas all year just for the fact there is that nostalgic grip that makes me ooze happiness and that child like wonder.
I happen to go over board on decorating and I get told we have enough. But is it enough? I say not. Last year I made a Christmas village above our doors. I used cardboard to make roofs, covered them in fake snow, and ornaments hung from the ceiling along with garland. The doors were outlined in lights to give off that wonderland feeling. So from our boys’ bedrooms doors to the kitchen doorway, there was this cozy ambience of being in a little village. Now this year, how will I top that? Oh, I will figure it out!
The decorations and the holiday charms are just like icing on a cake- it’s what is inside that truly counts. It it special time with our loved ones, sharing moments and stories. The grandma who makes those famous recipe goodies that won’t let anyone know how. The dad who will put toys together, maybe huff and puff a bit, but he will do it. The siblings who will, as always, fight over something trivial, even adult siblings. Then when all that settles, there’s a quiet that blankets everyone. It should peace and love, maybe some bellies who ate way too much. Everyone should be able to leave each other better than when they came.
The holidays are hard for many people, I myself included if I let it. There are many who do not have fond memories and some who do not get along with family. That’s ok so don’t sweat it. I’ve dealt with many holidays where I didn’t want to be and I’m going to tell you to just make the best of it or just don’t take part in what anyone is doing. Im not one to pressure family or anyone to do anything they don’t find comfortable to them. So if this you, you take care of yourself first. The holidays are everyone’s to enjoy in their own way. I love decorating, it’s not for anyone but me. Find your holiday magic, make your own self wonder like a child. Merry Christmas to you all!
My best to you and your journey!
